The definition of an artist is wide-ranging and covers a broad spectrum of activities to do with creating art, practicing the arts and/or demonstrating an art. The normal meaning in both everyday speech and academic discourse is a practitioner in the visual arts only. The term is often used in the entertainment business, especially in a business context, for musicians and other performers (less often for actors). "Artiste" (the French for artist) is a variant used in English only in this context. He is famous for these drawings of for example: these kids are in a boat and a huge castle is seen riding on a cloud in the far distance. Also a bird or something that is part of the wallpaper is peeling itself off the wall to fly away. Who is this artist? I'm sure he is from this century. Not sure what country. There is that guy (Steve somebody maybe?) who wrote the book "Pyramid," "Castle," "Cathedral," "Subway," and so on, it is at least extremely inspirational. Comic book stores and bookstores tend to have exactly what people are looking for in this regard. Libraries are sometimes good, except people like to steal the books. At the flea market I bought "Perspective Drawing," by Ernest Norling. Bound in the fifties or sixties, and originally sold for only one dollar. Now that's art instruction I'd say, golly. I suppose I would be remiss if I didn't at least mention "How To Draw Like M.C.
